Working on the Alphabet
Clare's ESL teacher wants us to work with Clare on learning the alphabet, so we've been doing just that. We thought she would immediately learn the letters, but we have discovered that this is going to be a bit more difficult. When we get a bit frustrated we stop and think what it would be like for us to be thrown into the Chinese culture with no choice but to learn the language. How well would we do? Now we are working on just a few letters at a time. We have her write the letters over and over and say the letter out loud each time she writes it on the board. Her ESL teacher also wants her to keep a journal.

Her letters look great!
Hey, are you guys coming to GWCA's Chinese New Year dinner in Edmond on the 31st? I would just love to meet Clare!! Love, Christine Boothe
Brycie,
This was very hard for Brett too......and more than furstrating for me. It took almost a year for him to master the alphabet, (He was 5) if you don't already have it I would reccomend the Leap Pad dvd I think it might be called "Leap's Letters" or something like that. It is excellent. The good news is that he is just finishing 1st grade and his teacher says he will finish exactly on target in reading.....so when it finally did come together for him...he caught up.
