Happy 93rd Birthday, Grandad!!

Grandad has lived through world wars, the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression, and his mother's cooking (food fried with lard and burned to a crisp). Here he is - 93 years old and can still blow out candles!! Happy Birthday, Grandad!!

The Moon and Jupiter - 092909

Look closely in the lower right portion of the picture. The tiny white dot is Jupiter. The moon and Jupiter were very close this evening. Jim enjoys this sort of thing. Please humor him.

Clare Eats Her Way Through Her First State Fair Of Oklahoma

We took Clare to her first "Great State Fair Of Oklahoma" yesterday. She loved it! She started with corn on the cob, then nachos and Indian tacos, then dippin' dots. We rode the OG&E space needle, then started eating. We checked out many of the exhibits and watched people. The weather was beautiful and we had a great time.

Here are Clare and Brycie at the entrance.

At long last -- "Esquire"

That glorious day finally arrived. Brycie is now an attorney. She was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Oklahoma Supreme Court at the State Capitol this morning. What an accomplishment!!! Yay, Brycie. We are so proud of you!

Here is Brycie with Jon Parsley, President of the Oklahoma Bar Association. Brycie and Jon grew up together in Guymon, Oklahoma.

Here are Brycie and Abby Payne Cash. Abby is the daughter of Guy and Jan Payne, of Beaver, Oklahoma, where Brycie and Jim lived before moving to Oklahoma City.

Here is my sweet Brycie waiting for the ceremony to begin.

1st Violin Lesson

We have decided that we want Clare to try many different activities so that she can discover what she is interested in. (And Jim always envisioned that his precious Chinese daughter would play the violin.) Ms. Krug comes to Clare's school to give private violin lessons. She is wonderful! She is so patient! We hope Clare will enjoy learning to play the violin!

1st Visit to the Eye Doctor

Clare went to see the eye doctor today. He said that she has 20/20 vision. Yay!! She even got to wear these cool sunglasses because he dilated her eyes.
