Brycie's OCU Awards Ceremony and After Party

On Friday, May 15, Brycie attended the awards ceremony and party for the law school graduates. The party was held at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. The law school had exclusive use of the museum for the evening which included hors d'oeuvres and drinks and free access to all the art exhibits. A caricature artist was there doing free caricatures. A wonderful evening until the "downpour." The Oklahoma skies opened up and rained and rained and rained. Finally, Jim had to run for the car about 200 yards away. We will know soon if his wool suit will recover.

We enjoyed a string quartet.

Strollin' Through The Neighborhood

When the weather is nice we enjoy a leisurely stroll through the neighborhood. Come along with us and enjoy the "stroll."

Pretty Clare hugging the tree.

Clare stuck out on a limb.

Clare makes the girls march in step. We don't always stroll. And, you have to step over the cracks in the street.

Just a little "pretty."

In the 'hood.

Clematis climbing over the mailbox.

Clare loves Daniela.

Chattin' on the curb.

Sometimes we just have to throw in a picture of Jim.

Respectful Heart Award

At the end of April Clare received the Respectful Heart Award at Villa Teresa Catholic School. "Warm Fuzzies" are important to children, and it was nice that Clare could receive this award after having been enrolled for only a few weeks. Good job, Clare.

This is one of the posters adorning the halls at Villa Teresa Catholic School.

Sister Veronica presents Clare with her award. Just look at Clare's happy little face

Villa Teresa is fortunate to have Sister Veronica as school principal.

The Legal Affair - Jim Is Bragging About Brycie Again!!!

On April 25, 2009, we attended a most marvelous banquet at the Grand Ballroom of the Skirvin Hotel in Oklahoma City. The banquet was a scholarship fundraiser for OCU School of Law scholarships, and the invitation committee included a number of the elite graduating law school seniors. It was probably one of the finest and most enjoyable banquets we've ever attended. Here are some photos of a few of the celebrities.

Entering the Ballroom.
Here is my celebrity.

It's fun being the husband of a very smart person.

Brycie and two of her dear law school friends, Julia Dittberner and Allesan Armstrong.

The Master of Ceremonies was Mike Turpen, former Attorney General in Oklahoma.

Dean of the OCU School of Law, Lawrence Hellman.

Bill Conger, general counsel for OCU School of Law, and one of Jim's law school classmates from long ago.

Professor Arthur LeFrancois. He was Brycie's criminal law professor during her second year. At the final exam, he came into the exam room and asked some of the students if everyone had what they needed. Brycie, "tongue-in-cheek" said "no." He replied, also tongue-in-cheek, "are we lacking knowledge?" Brycie had the absolute top grade in the class and won the CALI award for the top grade. Maybe she wasn't lacking knowledge. Actually, she has received a CALI award every semester she has been in law school. There I go bragging on my wife again.

Professor Von Creel. He was Brycie's professor in Conflicts of Law.

Honorable Marian Opala, Oklahoma Supreme Court Justice. He was Jim's legal writing professor back in the olden days.

Bill Burkett, former United States Attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma (1969-1975), and former District Judge in Oklahoma County.

Honorable Robert Henry. He served as Oklahoma's Attorney General from 1987-1991; he was Dean of the OCU Law School from 1991-1994; then he was appointed to the United States 10th Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver.

Washin' the Dog

Angelo and Daniela invited Clare to help wash Duchess. Until recently, Clare has been afraid of dogs, cats and other four-legged creatures. She has now warmed up to Duchess and takes her for walks and now a bath!! Enjoy the pictures and videos!!

We just wish she would adjust!! ; )

Ice Cream Truck In The Neighborhood

Clare had her first chance to buy a popsicle from the neighborhood ice cream truck. As my dear grandma used to say . . . "Spring has sprung, the grass is riz, wonder where them flowers is."
